Meet Olga. She was born in Moscow, where she lived with her husband, Gonfa, and their son, Gebriel. Olga and Gonfa knew that they wanted a better life for their son, so they moved to Boston with the hopes of creating better opportunities for their family.

Olga reached out to JVS to help her secure employment. In September 2003, Olga started English classes at JVS, and JVS's Refugee Services department helped her find a job working as a home health care provider for Russian speaking seniors.

Olga continued to pursue her career goals through JVS. She had always dreamt of being a nurse, so she enrolled in JVS's Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) program. "Support from JVS donors inspired me and helped me to keep going when I was tired. Because they believed in me, I worked so hard at my first job and even harder on my classes at night."

Olga graduated from the CNA course, and started working at Hebrew Senior Life. Now that Olga is earning an improved salary, she has chosen to give back herself, donating to the appeal at the JVS Gala in May 2016.

"Because of the support of JVS donors, I am now able to support my own family. I hope that you will help give other families the same opportunities generously provided to me and my family."
