ESOL Workplace Instructors - Hourly, Part-time, Full-time

JVS Boston, a workforce development organization, is seeking experienced ESOL Instructors to deliver customized ESOL courses for job seekers and entry level employees.  The ESOL Instructor will assist in assessing the training needs of participants and will provide the education needed to move individuals forward on their career pathways. The ESOL Instructor is part of a larger JVS team, all of whom are supporting the education, training, and employment needs of clients and employers.  Hourly, part-time, full-time, and lead positions are available.  

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

• 2-3 years of workplace or job readiness ESOL teaching experience preferred
• Wiliness to travel to MBTA accessible sites in the Greater Boston area
• Knowledge of adult learning theory
• Ability to work effectively with a diverse group of clients
• Experience in a workforce development role a plus
• Presentation and facilitation skills
• Strong Microsoft Office Suite skills

English Language Arts Instructor

Jewish Vocational Service, a non-profit workforce development organization, seeks a full-time, experienced English Language Arts Instructor to teach 4 ELA courses in its Adult Diploma Pathway program. This position involves daily lesson planning and teaching, responding to multiple drafts of student work, and evaluating progress and skill attainment of individual participants on a scheduled basis. The instructor will track outcomes, attend team meetings, and create documents for submission to the Program Director, funders or evaluators, and employers.

The Ideal candidate will have:
• 2-3 years of English language arts teaching experience required
• experience teaching adult non-native speakers of English required

Career Coach – Refugee Services, Lawrence

Career Coach positions available in Lawrence locations

Jewish Vocational Service seeks Career Coaches to be responsible for developing strong job leads, providing high quality career counseling, training, and job placement assistance to designated job seekers.  The Career Coaches initiate and sustain collaborative working relationships with a variety of businesses in the greater Lawrence and Boston areas.  

For positions in Lawrence, the Career Coach must have flexibility to travel between various employer locations in order to serve participants applying for jobs in the greater Lawrence area and to travel to Boston as needed.

Career Coaches at both locations must have a strong knowledge of issues related to individuals with significant barriers to employment, as well as experience working with people from diverse backgrounds.

The ideal candidate will have:
• 1-3 years of experience in workforce development or related field required
• 1-3 years of experience working with individuals with barriers to employment strongly desired
• Strong Microsoft Office Suite skills required
• Experience in marketing and outreach desired
• Proficiency in a language spoken by immigrant participants preferred (Spanish)
• Familiarity with career ladders and professional advancement preferred

Lead ESOL Instructor- Lawrence

Jewish Vocational Service, a non-profit workforce development organization, seeks a full-time Lead Instructor to be the primary contact and JVS representative at community partner sites where English for Advancement classes are delivered.  They teach one class (9 contact hours) per week, and perform all administrative duties associated with the site.  They develop and modify contextualized curriculum and daily lesson plans for English classes with the goal of supporting participants to get a new or better job, deliver training to participants, evaluate progress and skill attainment of individual participants on a scheduled basis, track outcomes, create documents for submission to the Director, funders or evaluators, and attend strategic team meetings both in the Business Services department as well as agency wide meetings.  They supervise 1-3 Instructors, providing guidance and support around differentiated curriculum development; student engagement, retention, attendance and skill development; and substitute teach classes for the site as needed.  The Lead Instructor works collaboratively with each member of the Business Services and Career Coaching team to assist students in obtaining the skills needed to find and secure employment.  Positions are located in Lawrence locations.   

The ideal candidate will have: 

• 2-3 years of training/teaching experience required
• Supervisory experience a plus
• Knowledge of adult learning theory
• Ability to work with a diverse group of clients

Career Coach Transitions To Work

Jewish Vocational Service seeks a Career Coach Transitions To Work who provides outreach to Transitions to Work program graduates who are beyond their one-year service period and reengages them to provide career advancement services. With each participant, the Career Coach sets individual career goals and provides supportive services including career counseling, resume updating, interview, job search assistance and job coaching as needed.   The Career Coach is responsible for developing strong job leads and job placement assistance to participants.  The Career Coach provides on the job training and pre-employment job readiness skills to program participants. The Career Coach provides trainings and information to employer partners regarding working effectively with individuals with disabilities. The Career Coach will initiate and sustain collaborative working relationships with a variety of businesses in the greater Boston area.  Applies a strong knowledge about issues related to individuals with significant barriers to employment. The Career Coach is part of a larger JVS team that supports employment, training and education needs of clients and employers.

• An understanding of job development and job placement required.
• Experience in marketing and outreach strongly desired.

Jewish Vocational Service, a non-profit workforce development organization, seeks a Career Navigator/Communications Assistant to deliver innovative, customer-focused, and technology-driven career services to job seekers through CareerSolution, the JVS One-Stop Career Center. He/she provides 1:1 high quality LinkedIn and social media training, workshops, and presentations that incorporate best practices in adult education and training.
As Communications Assistant, this team member produces, edits, maintains and manages all external facing communication for CareerSolution including, but not limited to: Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Constant Contact bulk email campaigns and on-line calendars.

The right candidate will have:
• 4 years of experience in workforce development/job search/career coaching field with excellent knowledge of coaching tools and strategies.
• Knowledge of web-based job search resources and techniques required.
• Experience in marketing or a related field - non-profit experience a plus.

Jewish Vocational Service, a non-profit workforce development organization, seeks a part-time, experienced Career Navigator to deliver innovative, customer-focused, and technology-driven career services to job seekers in the "Ready for Success" program, while actively engaging employers and leveraging both personal outreach and existing employer relationships. The navigator, in collaboration with the team, will assist job seekers from diverse backgrounds and levels of experience. They will conduct successful job searches and obtain employment through both 1:1 career/job search coaching and group workshops that incorporate best practices in adult education and training, and advance the use of technology in the job search. This position is results driven and staff will be evaluated on reaching established benchmark metrics.

The right candidate will have:
• 4 years of experience in the workforce development/job search/career coaching/recruiting field with excellent knowledge of coaching tools and strategies
• Knowledge of web-based job search resources and techniques required
• Experience in recruitment, job development desired
• Strong Microsoft Office Suite skills required

This position is a part-time, benefitted, 21 hour per week exempt position.  The position may require the career navigator to work up to 20 hours per month in our Boston office, with the remaining time in the JFS/MW office in Framingham. Occasional evening hours are required.

Jewish Vocational Service, a non-profit workforce development organization, seeks a full-time, experienced Career Navigator with our Secure Jobs Partnership. Secure Jobs Partnership is a regional collaboration aimed at demonstrating a replicable model for connecting homeless families to career ladder employment and for improving coordination of services among the local housing/homelessness and workforce development systems. The Career Navigator is responsible for developing strong job leads, and providing high quality career counseling and job placement assistance to job seekers referred from our housing project partner. The Career Navigator initiates and sustains collaborative working relationships with a variety of businesses in the greater Boston area to create employment opportunities for clients. This individual must have a strong knowledge about issues related to individuals with significant barriers to employment.

The ideal candidate will have:
• 1-3 years of experience in workforce development or related field required.
• 1-3 years of experience in working with individuals with barriers to employment strongly desired.
• Demonstrated experience creating and maintaining professional business relationships relevant to employment of others preferred.
• Bilingual/bicultural in English/Spanish or English/Haitian Creole preferred.
• Knowledge of community resources and web-based job search resources and techniques required.
• Experience working with homeless and/or at-risk families highly preferred.
• Experience in recruitment, job development desired.
• Outstanding interpersonal, customer service and organizational skills required.
• Ability to work in a multi-cultural environment required.
• Strong Microsoft Office Suite skills required.
• BA/BS in related area (Employment Coaching/Career Counseling, Human Resources, Psychology, Social Work, or Education) or 4 years related experience.

Work hours are generally 9-5 Monday through Friday (full-time 35 hours per week).

Jewish Vocational Service, a non-profit workforce development organization, seeks a full-time, experienced Healthcare Career Navigator to deliver innovative, customer-focused, and technology-driven career services to job seekers and to develop relationships with area healthcare employers to understand staffing needs and create employment pipelines. The navigator will assist job seekers from diverse backgrounds and levels of experience to conduct successful job searches and obtain employment.

The ideal candidate will have:
• 4 years of experience in the workforce development/career coaching/recruiting field with excellent knowledge of career coaching tools and strategies
• Knowledge of web-based job search resources and techniques required
• Exceptional level of computer/technology proficiency including: ability to complete online job applications, maintain accurate records of services provided in databases, and a high level of proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite required
• Experience in marketing and outreach desired
• Familiarity with career ladders and professional advancement preferred
• Bilingual speaker a plus
• BA/BS in related area (Counseling, Human Resources, Psychology, Social Work, or Education) or at least 4 years’ experience

Welcome Center Support Staff

Jewish Vocational Service, a non-profit workforce development organization, seeks a full-time Welcome Center Support Staff to provide all back-up service and support needs for the Welcome Center Operations and the programs it serves. As the first impression to the community and public we serve, including customers, clients, visitors, funders, donors and Board Members, the Welcome Center Support Staff delivers customer service at the highest level to all entering the Welcome Center and Student Support Center. Through this welcome, the Welcome Center Support Staff establishes a positive, welcoming, respectful environment and delivers efficient and effective direction and assistance for all. The Welcome Center Support Staff performs work that requires thorough knowledge of all JVS programming leading to an ability to assist clients, understand their needs, obtain information and direct them to the appropriate staff member or program area in addition to assisting in programmatic tasks and projects. Working with clients includes face to face, over the phone, and in some cases through providing written materials which requires maintaining up-to-date knowledge of all JVS programming, the Welcome Center Support Staff will work closely with employees of JVS at multiple levels. This position reports to the Welcome Center Manager.

The ideal candidate will have:
• 1-2 years’ customer service and receptionist experience required
• 1-2 years’ work experience in a non-profit organization required
• Ability to multi-task; punctuality in the workplace and among transitional tasks is a must
• Bi-lingual a must; Spanish and Haitian Creole highly preferred
• Customer service oriented with ability to interact with and assist a multi-cultural customer base
• Demonstrated ability to communicate using considerable tact and diplomacy
• Professional appearance and service delivery
• Demonstrated ability to direct, guide and assist a group of individuals
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office suite skills
• Ability to work in a multicultural environment
• High school diploma/GED equivalency and 1 year of related experience
