JVS Donors Provide Once in a Lifetime Opportunities

Serving mainly dislocated workers, Massachusetts Rehabilitation clients, and veterans, JVS’ Entrepreneurial Training Program (ETP) trains participants to start their own businesses.

ETP includes classroom training oriented towards the production of a business plan for each participant and one-on-one consulting to help implement the business plan. Upon completion, participants either start their own small businesses or gain employment. After running two successful classes and anticipating the start of the third, ETP’s funding was cut, leaving 17 eager clients on a waiting list. Thankfully, six of JVS’ generous donors funded the final cycle, giving those on the waiting list a once in a lifetime opportunity to craft and hone a new business. Participants in the program have various backgrounds, with representation from such fi elds as information technology, event planning, health care, and catering. In addition, this private money allows even more freedom to make this a truly equal opportunity program.
