JVS supporters join to celebrate client success and raise skills, jobs and careers to new heights
"Frederick Douglass said 'If there is no struggle, there is no progress.' I am grateful to JVS for helping me with my own struggle, and for being part of my progress, as well as the progress of so many others every day." - Client Speaker Yoldie Feona
Honorees Michael Winter and Deb Goldberg with Jerry Rubin and Barry Shrage
Last week, JVS friends gathered at our signature event elevate - The JVS Gala. Together we raised over $375,000 to benefit JVS programs. Whether you joined us this year, or have attended a gala in the past, we wanted to share news of this fabulous event with you, and thank you for your support.
We were proud to honor Deborah Goldberg and Michael Winter, for their commitment to social justice, empowerment and JVS. As Treasurer Deb has worked to advance policies that break down barriers and create economic empowerment through wage equality, financial literacy and college savings plans. Michael joined the JVS Board in 1991, served as Chair from 2000-02, and is currently on the Advisory Council.

Client Speaker, Yoldie Feona with last year's speaker Ailina Fernandes
Guests heard the inspirational story of Yoldie Feona, who left Haiti four years ago to start over with her two daughters. She connected with MassLEAP at JVS and graduated from our Pharmacy Training program in October 2015. Today, she works full-time as a Pharmacy Technician with Walgreens, can pay her own bills, and is working with her JVS Financial Coach to save and buy a house.
