Part-Time ESOL Instructor
The Part-Time ESOL Instructor works collaboratively with members of the Business Services teamto assist students in obtaining the ESOL skills needed to perform successfully in the workplace. The ESOL Instructor works with the Director of Workforce Development and the employer partner to assist in the development and delivery of ESOL instruction designed to ensure that participants have the most relevant ESOL skills needed in the workplace, as identified by both students and organizational feedback.

The Part-Time ESOL Instructor works collaboratively with members of the Business Services teamto assist students in obtaining the ESOL skills needed to perform successfully in the workplace. The ESOL Instructor works with the Director of Workforce Development and the employer partner to assist in the development and delivery of ESOL instruction designed to ensure that participants have the most relevant ESOL skills needed in the workplace, as identified by both students and organizational feedback.
Summary:
Under the direction of the Workforce Development, the ESOL Instructor develops and modifies curriculum and daily lesson plans for courses, delivers classes to participants, and evaluates the academic progress of individual students on a scheduled basis.
Essential Job Functions
Employers
- develop and modify curriculum based on the needs of both the students and the Employer
- establish relationship and communication with key Employer staff and work collaboratively in a structured and on-going manner
- assist with planning and implementation of changes in the program, curriculum, or instruction
- collaborate and communicate regularly with the Director of Workforce Development to insure smooth delivery of services
Students/Classroom
- deliver ESOL instruction in a variety of organizational, medical and corporate settings
- assist students in areas of difficulty and, as time permits, provide additional assignments for students who will benefit from extra work
- be flexible to individual learning styles, and set appropriate limits to ensure all students have an equal opportunity to learn
Administrative/Communication
- submit monthly class syllabi (summaries)at the beginning (end) of each month, as well as, incorporate organizational and workplace materials into the curriculum
- evaluate student progress on a regularly scheduled basis
- complete Individual Learning Plans for each student verifying attainment of stated program competencies
- communicate with the Director of Workforce Development regarding any concerns that may impact the student’s progress in the classroom
- track and report attendance on a weekly and monthly basis
Essential Job Functions - Business Services Team
- support the mission and philosophy of JVS Business Services team
- work collaboratively with and encourage collaboration between team members to ensure performance goals for Business Services are met
- attend and actively participate in staff meetings and team-based projects
- provide assistance to fellow team members when needed or when course load is below established minimums
- perform other duties as requested
Knowledge/Skills/Experience:
- Two years teaching experience with adult ESOL
- Knowledge of Windows/Word
- Interpersonal, communication and organizational skills
- Ability to work as part of a team, as well as, the ability to work independently
- Presentation and facilitation skills
Education Required:
BS in Education or related field
