At a difficult economic time like this, many people who are struggling turn to JVS for help and JVS is responding.
Over the past months, as many in the community have felt the sting of the recession, individuals, community organizations and synagogues have asked for help from JVS' Career Moves to provide assistance in this tough job market. In response, CJP and JVS have developed a joint effort to substantially expand Career Moves' services.
Career Moves has been partnering with synagogues to bring comprehensive employment seminars and workshops into the community. More than 500 people have already attended these workshops. In partnership with CJP, JVS has introduced both individual and group services in the South Shore and Metrowest areas.
In addition, we are helping synagogues establish and facilitate peer support groups for job seekers, and have increased the number of panels and workshops offered by Career Moves. Click here for the schedule of our community seminars.
Also in conjunction with CJP, JVS is running a program that offers scholarships to undergraduate students with financial need. Click here to learn more.
The Work Place, JVS and the City of Boston's one-stop career center, is expanding and introducing new workshops in response to the large increases of unemployed individuals seeking services. The Work Place is also stepping up its efforts to encourage employers to offer more onsite job recruitment sessions. Click here to learn more.
