ESOL Workplace Instructors - Hourly, Part-time, Full-time

JVS Boston, a workforce development organization, is seeking experienced ESOL Instructors to deliver customized ESOL courses for job seekers and entry level employees.  The ESOL Instructor will assist in assessing the training needs of participants and will provide the education needed to move individuals forward on their career pathways. The ESOL Instructor is part of a larger JVS team, all of whom are supporting the education, training, and employment needs of clients and employers.  Hourly, part-time, full-time, and lead positions are available.  
 
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

o 2-3 years of workplace or job readiness ESOL teaching experience preferred
o Wiliness to travel to MBTA accessible sites in the Greater Boston area
o Knowledge of adult learning theory
o Ability to work effectively with a diverse group of clients
o Experience in a workforce development role a plus
o Presentation and facilitation skills
o Strong Microsoft Office Suite skills
o Strong written and oral communication skills

EDUCATION:  Bachelor's degree in Education or related field.  Master's in Education and/or TESOL Certificate preferred.

Career Navigator - Bridges to College

Jewish Vocational Service seeks a full-time, experienced Career Navigator to place Bridges to College program graduates into degree related jobs.  The Career Navigator will also meet the staffing needs of employer partners, by utilizing existing agency referrals and by developing a network of new, key employer partners. The Career Navigator will also ensure that program participants are job ready by delivering job readiness classes.

The right candidate will have 3-4 years' experience in counseling or training adults and have familiarity with careers ladders and professional advancement protocols.  Knowledge of adult learning theory and community resources is highly desired as well as experience in a health care environment.

Work hours are generally 9-5 Month through Friday (full-time 35 hours per week) although on some occasions, some early morning, evening and occasional weekend work may be required.

Position is at our 75 Federal Street location and will also require travelling to employer locations in the Greater Boston locations.

Jewish Vocational Service seeks Career Coaches to be responsible for developing strong job leads, providing high quality career counseling, training, and job placement assistance to designated job seekers.  The Career Coaches initiate and sustain collaborative working relationships with a variety of businesses in the greater Lawrence and Boston areas.  
 
For positions in Lawrence, the Career Coach must have flexibility to travel between various employer locations in order to serve participants applying for jobs in the greater Lawrence area and to travel to Boston as needed.
 
Career Coaches at both locations must have a strong knowledge of issues related to individuals with significant barriers to employment, as well as experience working with people from diverse backgrounds.
 
The ideal candidate will have:
o 1-3 years of experience in workforce development or related field required
o 1-3 years of experience working with individuals with barriers to employment strongly desired
o Strong Microsoft Office Suite skills required
o Experience in marketing and outreach desired
o Proficiency in a language spoken by immigrant participants preferred (Spanish)
o Familiarity with career ladders and professional advancement preferred

Lead ESOL Instructor- Lawrence

Jewish Vocational Service, a non-profit workforce development organization, seeks a full-time Lead Instructor to be the primary contact and JVS representative at community partner sites where English for Advancement classes are delivered.  They teach one class (9 contact hours) per week, and perform all administrative duties associated with the site.  They develop and modify contextualized curriculum and daily lesson plans for English classes with the goal of supporting participants to get a new or better job, deliver training to participants, evaluate progress and skill attainment of individual participants on a scheduled basis, track outcomes, create documents for submission to the Director, funders or evaluators, and attend strategic team meetings both in the Business Services department as well as agency wide meetings.  They supervise 1-3 Instructors, providing guidance and support around differentiated curriculum development; student engagement, retention, attendance and skill development; and substitute teach classes for the site as needed.  The Lead Instructor works collaboratively with each member of the Business Services and Career Coaching team to assist students in obtaining the skills needed to find and secure employment.  Positions are located in Lawrence locations.  
 
The ideal candidate will have:
 
o 2-3 years of training/teaching experience required
o Supervisory experience a plus
o Knowledge of adult learning theory

Jewish Vocational Service seeks a Career Coach Transitions To Work who provides outreach to Transitions to Work program graduates who are beyond their one-year service period and reengages them to provide career advancement services. With each participant, the Career Coach sets individual career goals and provides supportive services including career counseling, resume updating, interview, job search assistance and job coaching as needed.   The Career Coach is responsible for developing strong job leads and job placement assistance to participants.  The Career Coach provides on the job training and pre-employment job readiness skills to program participants. The Career Coach provides trainings and information to employer partners regarding working effectively with individuals with disabilities. The Career Coach will initiate and sustain collaborative working relationships with a variety of businesses in the greater Boston area.  Applies a strong knowledge about issues related to individuals with significant barriers to employment. The Career Coach is part of a larger JVS team that supports employment, training and education needs of clients and employers.   
 
The ideal candidate will have:
 
o An understanding of job development and job placement required.
o Experience in marketing and outreach strongly desired.
o Demonstrated ability to initiate and sustain collaborative working relationships with a variety of businesses in the greater Boston area.

Jewish Vocational Service seeks a Manager of Workplace Education to build, strengthen and grow key partnerships, supervises and supports direct service staff, tracks and reports all relevant program data and outcomes and evaluates programmatic success.  The Manager of Workplace Education oversees multiple employer-based programs, acting as the primary contact for employer partners and providing supervision for a team of off-site instructors and coaches.  The Manager of Workplace Education also institutes any necessary upgrades and changes to insure success of the program, creates documents for submission to JVS leadership, funders, evaluators and other stakeholders.

The ideal candidate will have:

o A minimum of 3 years of program/contract management and supervisory experience
o experience in curriculum development for the adult learner
o ability to analyze course outcomes and propose means to achieve desired outcomes, if appropriate
o strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
o strong interpersonal, communication and organizational skills are required
o ability to work independently and as part of a team is required
o ability to work effectively with staff and clients from diverse cultural, socio-economic, ethnic and educational backgrounds is required
o ability to deal tactfully and effectively with a diverse group of clients at all levels of the organization
o demonstrated and effective presentation and facilitation skills are required
o knowledge of community resources and web-based resources preferred

Jewish Vocational Service seeks a Gift Processing Assistant who is primarily responsible for gift entry and administrative details related to the annual JVS Gala.
 
The ideal candidate will have:
o 1-2 years of administrative work highly preferred
o Excellent administrative and organizational skills, and meticulous attention to detail
o Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet shifting deadlines
o Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team and in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment
o High level of comfort and accuracy in working with numbers and data and spreadsheets

This is 17.5 hour per week non-benefitted position.  For the months of November, December and part of January, and the month of April approximately 5 additional hours per week could be added to the required schedule.
